Azure Bay - the history of the name
Nearby lowland Shamora has gained fame after 1890 when here the entrepreneur Vasily Kerner, the former convict has put vineyards. Grape wine of Kerner was in demand in Vladivostok.
On one of versions, Shamor's name comes from the Chinese shamuo (沙漠) — "the sandy desert", "sand". Krom fall, also the river flowing into a bay, and the settlement which has arisen here later was called. The bay long time was known under both names — both Feldgauzena, and Shamora.
Till 1960th years when ashore the tent summer camp began to be located, the bay was not the popular vacation spot. Passenger transport did not go to Shamora, but it was possible to reach on foot on a country road along the sea or from the Botanical garden.
After armed conflict for the island Daman there was a renaming of the Chinese names, the settlement in 1972 has received the name Azure, and in 1973 both Shamor's river, and Shamor (Feldgauzen's) bay became the solution of the Seaside krayispolkom "Azure".
